I am a mother of two beautiful and talented girls; I am happily married for over 25 years. My studies in Early Childhood Education, go hand and hand with my love and responsibility to protect, teach and guide my daughters; by making sure they grow up in a safe and healthy environment.
For over 12 years, I have dedicated part of my life in serving the public school community as a volunteer mom, working as a cafeteria attendant and as a substitute teacher. Giving me the opportunity and experience necessary to work closely with others and learn the needs of students, parents, teachers, support staff and volunteers. During these years, I have helped with field trips, picture days, as a teacher’s assistant in extracurricular activities for the Elementary and Middle school chorus/drama department, participating as a member of the Parent and Teacher Organization (PTO); where I later had the privilege of becoming part of the Executive Board and also I am a member in the School Advisory Council (SAC).
Additionally, immersing myself in the Art programs and serving on the Board as the fundraising chair and Co-chairing as the volunteer coordinator for the Parent Booster Committee for Band, Jazz and Orchestra, where I continue to be an active member. For the past couple years, I have supported the Osceola County School for the Arts (OCSA), with their auditions and registration process. In addition to serving in the Hispanic Heritage festival sponsored by the school’s Spanish Honor Society, volunteering with the Student Government Association (SGA) and assisting with any other clerical duties. Another opportunity has been to volunteer at the district level with the County’s Choice Program Fair. Also, helping to serve our community with events by sending non-perishable items and food, to the victims affected in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Irma and Maria. As well as working with others to help collect food donations for the Families in Transition (FIT).
Currently, I am a member of Voces Unidas por la Educación de Osceola (Voices United for Education Osceola), which is a non-profit organization with the main purpose of educating, empowering and helping students, parents and public system employees to develop leadership to serve our schools and community. The experience of working directly with students, parents and teachers; has been crucial, when helping to meet their needs and situations faced daily. It is for that reason, that I continue my commitment and my active involvement to bring inclusion and an equity education in every school, for every community. In achieving this, the students will be able to showcase their maximum potential.
In the General Elections, I hope to count with your vote!
Together we can make the difference!
